Mike DesLauriers knew exactly the career he wanted when he graduated from university. “With every HR class I took, I felt more and more like this was where my skills and personality belonged. I use my education every day, and every day I learn something new to build on that knowledge.” Mike is equally aware of the ways his university experience prepared him for success in the HR field. Actively involved in campus and community events, he built a strong foundation of leadership and organizational skills that support his work as part of the excel team. Preparation, he says, is key—always having a firm grasp on clients’ needs and the available selection of candidates to meet them. While the professionalism, reputation and positive atmosphere of excelHR were all attractive to him, Mike says equally important has been the company’s leading-edge technology. “We’re constantly pursuing ways to make things easier—for clients, candidates and our consultant team. Our temporary employees can do so much online now, from submitting timesheets to testing their skills.” A former ski racer and teacher, Mike admits that in his off hours he eagerly awaits the first snowfall each winter. Mike is also part of the Christie Lake Canoe for Kids fundraising efforts at the office.
